the Shark was named Bruce on set, after Spielbergs Lawyer
i remember first watching this film when i was a kid, must of been early 80s as it was on TV,and i hid behind the sofa for pretty much all the film and watched with eyes surfacing the top of the back of the sofa
the film actually came out a year before i was born
the part with the head popping out of the hole in the bottom of the boat, when Richard Dreyfuss decides(<<?) to dive in and have a closer look,at nighttime i may add was the most memorable for me,although the scariest part
unbelievable though that its 35 years old
Roy Scheider is now dead
Robert Shaw is now dead(in fact died just a few years after Jaws)
Richard Dreyfuss of course went on to make a few more films with Spielberg

if only we could turn back the clock...and warn people not to make any of the sequels
i have the 30th Anniversary Special Edition 2 disc DVD set
i know a lot of people took the piss out of the shark because it looked fake(even more so in the sequels),but it did a good enough job for me,may well be how Spielberg filmed it,not exactly showing the shark that full on or if he did it was only for a few seconds at times..still,its a great film and up there with the best IMO
