looks like Tier has covered all the bases. I had "not proper RRoD" the E74 code about 2 yrs back, its related to the GPU and as Tiers links show its just means the GPU chip has lifted off the mother board (I think a "proper RRoD" releates to the CPU coming away)
Homebuilt. when mine went "tits up" back in march 07 (link here ) you posted thet you Elite went wrong a while b4, is this the same console or you replacement? I be pretty pissed the way you have been going thru them

yeah....could of sworn i have said this before...this is what i really had last APRIL..when i found out it wasnt covered,i pretty much while the 360 was on,kept disconnecting the power brick,as soon as i did that 3 red lights came up,and i rang up for that and they replaced it EDIT:and i got the 360 back within the week
when you unplug the 360 from the power brick, the 360 does not like that..it makes a terrible noise,LOL
I suppose its better to acknowledge a problem and offer to fix it rather than ignore its existence, its a lesser of 2 evils for MS. i think its good MS have put the E74 under the warranty umbrella.
"They're talking about banning cigarette smoking now in any place that's used by ten or more people in a week, which, I guess, means that Madonna can't even smoke in bed."
