some films just oooze class, especially when there is a cool car chase in it

whats yer favourite car chase?

heres a few of mine, help me out and name some more

Bullitt
some say is the best car chase ever and i am not one to argue there

10minutes 37 seconds, cut to about 3.20minutes in to get the action

The Dead Pool

the fifth Dirty Harry movie
streets of San Franny again, this time the chase has a twist...has to be Duracell batteries!!
5 minutes 51 seconds

Ronin

From the same Director as French Connection II,and staring Robert Deniro, this is a more modern chase, but still cuts it

BMW Vs Peugeot

after watching this again this is by far one of the best
6 minutes 45 seconds

The Blues Brothers

unfortunately i cant find this on Youtube so here is a google video

there are so many good chases in this movie as it is basically one big car chase movie, but this is my favourite

4minutes 38seconds
the shopping mall

you just named my top three, but what about The Italian job (original), The one in the first Bourne film. And isn't there one in the French connection? Oh and the one in "freebie and the bean" where the car ends up stuck in the side of a tall building. And if anyone mentions any of the "Transporter" films I will come and slap you.

you have covered the great car chases, Blue Brothers car chases are definitive (both of them)

The bullit car chase doesnt really do it for me, i dunno if it becuase i didnt see it at the time or what.

The thing with the Bullit chase too much of it is in a straight line, (again no offence to the yanks) but American muscle cars cant really go round corners, those Mustangs where wobbling around like waterbeds

love the Ronin chase. I think its DeNiro's face that really sells it, he really looks like he is on the edge and its a really scrappy, messy chase where its only luck that seems to get them thru (like in Blues Brothers) which car chases should be.

Dunno if you saw Top Gear (mobs and Orph) where clarkson takes the Fiesta thru a shopping centre (Mall)

again, no offence to the yanks for showing a 'Vette in a bad light

I was thinking Bond, but the only good chase I could think of was the speed boat chase in Live and let die, does that count?

Oh what about the lotus esprit/ Renault 5 chase where the lotus turns into a sub?

Yeah, i was thinking a band car chase should be in there, but no definitve Bond chases sprang to mind, shame really, as with Bond the cars are stars in the films themsleves. i couls only think of the Lotus/submarine on aswell.
what about that one where he grabs the motor with the yank in it and the then guy says "how 'bout a demonstration boy?" Moore replies with almost sickening smoothness "certainly sir" and the do "that" jump?

great vid there Skin

yeah i like the power boat chase in Live and let die,i reckon we could count that in

funny actually when i started to think about Bond car chases, after i posted the reply to Mobeye's post earlier this morning,i could only think of....this

5 minutes 7 seconds

this isnt bad, from an otherwise shite Bond Film
3 minutes 57 seconds

this was the best part of the film

and that jump Skin, for 'The Man With The Golden Gun' was pretty much perfect, apart from of course the dumb sound effect the film crew put in over it
(The guy in the car, with James Bond is the sherrif from Live and Let Die..who was involved in the speedboat chase Mobeye mentioned)

man that Citroen chase was pretty piss poor (its a 2CV for christ sake!), her acting was nearly as woodened that the citroens suspension

I didnt think Goldeneye was bad at all (spawned on of the greatest FPS games ever!!)

That Gadget he used to cut the wire, what other means would need to use a gadget like that? not exactly "multipurpose"

Goldeneye was good,Tomorrow never dies(which is what that vid is from)is shite, world is not enough is good,Die another day is shite..so,half and half for Brosnan as Bond for me

and i am reckoning that with all the great stunts in all the Bond films, that Citroen car chase was done like that on prupose,to take the piss..and yes,she was bad acting,i remember the scene at the end when they had won so Bond got his girl and she dropped her nightgown...'For Your Eyes Only,my darling'...euugh,c'mon love its Roger Moore in his glassy eye stare years..you cant mean that!!!

hmm,Truck-License to Kill
10 minutes 4 seconds

that stunt he does with the truck doing a wheelie(on the back to wheels)is bullshit..cant be done unless there is a big weight on the back,my dads a Truck driver and i remember him saying the same thing when we rented this movie out, back in 89 i guess
License to Kill was the first 15 certificate Bond Movie(i think it maybe 12 now)..Robert Davi was a cool bad guy(but we knew this anyway from Goonies,LOL)

BOND aside-this one aint bad either,LOL

Blues Brothers is my top, followed by Dead Pool and Smoky and the Bandit.

I know no one else likes the movie, but I really liked the "Elenor" chase in Gone in 60 seconds. (Keep in mind, this is about case scenes, not scripts or acting.)

Speaking of American Muscle, Mustangs are shitty, but they do look good on film.
In my mind the Bond films are to gimmicky for a good chase scene.

Oh yeah, and don't forget that one movie... The one that starts out with a really big chase. Can't remember the name...
It starts out with this small rectangular car being chased by this giant triangular car... Anyone remember that one?

I've seen that one, the triangle swallows the rectangle one. A bit too far fetched I think, now what was that film called?

That is such a womans discription of a car, gonna need a bit more that that pleez dude.

Gone in 60 Secs "Elenor" chase is pretty good (Simpson and Bruckheimer cinematics are alwasy cool)

i agree with you on the Mustangs, the look great, they sound great (we say the V8 engine is the soundtrack of America) but they just wont turn, case and point being when McQueen goes round that corner, he has to stop, back up to re-go round it

Oh Orph,I must apologises, you were right,I dunno why i thought that Bond chase was from Goldeneye, but it was from 2moro never dies

Take a deep breath and think about it, right at the start of a film a triangle chasing a rectanglish shape, the triangle swallows up the rectangle.

Ah crap, I forgot all about that one!!!

How about the one where Anakin chases his manhood through two entire movies? The entire audience was on the edge of thier seats waiting for his balls to drop....

Oh yeah, back to muscle cars... they aren't made to dodge though traffic, more to plow through it. To effectively turn one of those baby's requires precise control of the emergency brake coupled with a perfectly timed stomping on the gas while simultaneously spinning the wheel to the intended direction then to the opposite. The time you loose performing this dance is more than made up for in acceleration.

It might not be graceful, but it sure is FUN!! (and it scares the bejeezus out of your passenger)
