So Beta and I went to see WTC last night and we were bored out of our freakin' minds. It is like the opposite of Descent. They rush you into the collapse and then you see them trapped in the rubble for over 3/4 of the movie. Definitely a tear jerker, but I wouldn't pay to go see this film. Too long to sit through.

Ok, so tonight I watched Snakes on a Plane. Well, the graphics were lame. The acting was corny, but the comedy was all that and a bag of chips. 3 snakes got a lil' sumtin' sumtin'. I will admit that I jumped pretty high at one point. I recommend, if any go see it, take a spare pair of underwear. Over all, as an action flick, I give this movie a thumbs down, but as a comedy, thumbs up thumbs up.

So, the new movie on the chopping block is Zoom, starring Tim Allen. This movie was CRAP!!! Pure CRAP! All I can really say is that it is very similar to the movie Sky High, with Kurt Russell...also CRAP!!! The story was weak. The acting equally lame. Tim Allen, Courtney Cox, Chevy Chase, Rip Torn and a bunch of kids...CRAP!!!
I give it a thumbs down

Ok, so I got to sit in on a special screening last night for Transformers and had pretty low expectations going in since I am such a big fan and all. This movie was AWESOME!!! You get to see them actually transform in it. Granted, the transformers don't really show up much in the first half of the movie, but once they do, they are wicked! This movie had me laughing a lot and as giddy as a school girl when it was over. I don't really want to say anything about the story without giving anything away. I give this movie 2 definite thumbs up. I have a strong feeling that this movie will definitely be the best movie of the whole year. Not to mention the sequel is already being discussed. Go see this movie as soon as you get the chance.

Welcome back Detective John McLain. In this new installment of the Die Hard series, There is a group of hacker-terrorists creating a firesale in America. Justin Long, a hacker, is needed by the FBI for questioning as to what is going on. He is wanted dead by the terrorists for his part in the firesale, but just won't die while under the protection of McLain.
This movie has tons of boom, great one-liners, and a whole lot of hurt going on. I give this movie a thumbs up. Yippie-kai-ay Mother fuckers!

This movie is about a young boy and girl who are picked on while at school. When they get home each day, they go to a place where they are of great importance. Their imaginations take over and create a whole new world. They become best of friends and take their thoughts and imaginations to school and fix the problems they have there.
This movie is geared towards a younger crowd, but I really liked it. I did not enjoy certain parts though. I actually cried during the movie. First time ever too. It was more for personal reasons than for the movie. I would recommend this movie though. I give Bridge to Terabithia a thumbs up.

Ok, now this is going to be fun...
Grindhouse is a double feature...2 movies...
The first movie...Planet Terror...is about a military experiment that gets out into the air and cause people to become like zombies...not actually zombies though. A select few people are fighting for their lives to get away when they are taken captive and imprisoned by the military, led by Bruce Willis.
The 2nd movie...Death Proof...is about a stunt man who has a car that is 100% death proof for the driver. He goes around killing a bunch of girls with his car, but in the process, some of his victims decide to return the favor. This film stars Kurt Russell.
Overall, I laughed my ass off, was grossed out and had a lot of trouble eating my food. I totally give this movie 2 thumbs up.
Things to keep in mind when seeing this movie:
It was made to resemble 70's Action and Horror films that have played countless times...therefore...scratches, focusing, sprocket damage (picture jumping), burnt film (picture melts away) and fake previews before each film. The print was designed to look like this. There is nothing wrong with the print, so you do not need to let a manager/employee know that the print is messed up. If there is a real problem with the print, the projectionist will already know and be fixing it immediately.
Also, including the real previews, this movie is about 3 hours and 25 minutes long. Pay attention to the previews, as they are referenced in the actual movies.

Now this was a cute movie. This is a movie about a young boy who wants to find his family. He builds an invention that is stolen and then he has to go to the future to make things right.
I really liked the movie. Very funny and great if you have kids. I give Meet the Robinsons a thumbs up.

OH DEAR GOD!!! What did I just watch!?! Ok, so I just got back from screening Blades of Glory, starring Will Ferrell and Jon Heder. A movie about to rival figure skaters who are banned from men's competition forever. They team up and become a men's pairs team. That in itself just screams wrong. This movie did make me laugh, but at the same time, it was crap. The stunts were way too noticably fake. The acting was botchy. The whole idea was just too damn BROKEBACK!!! So, I rate this movie a thumbs down.
Tomorrow night, I screen Meet the Robinsons. I hope its better than this film was.

So I just got back from screening the new turtles movie. I really liked it. There is no Shredder, but thats ok. He's kinda over villianized anyway. In this movie, a warlord from 3000 years ago, found a way to become imortal, but at a high cost. Now, the time has come again to open the portal and it is up to the turtles to stop him. First, they must overcome their own personal problems before they can save the world.
If you have kids, or were a fan as a kid yourself, you should go see this newest CGI version of the movie. I give it a definite thumbs up.

So I didn't really care to see this movie...and wouldn't have if I didn't need to screen it tonight...but WOW! I was blown away by this film.
Ultimate Gift if about a young man who is part of an extremely rich family and has never had to "do anything" his whole life. His grand father dies and leaves a will to the entire family. For Jason...the main character...he leaves a video will that informs him the he must first "receive" multiple other gifts before receiving the "Ultimate gift." I laughed a lot throughout this movie because it was hilarious at points, but really sad and emotional at points too. The little girl from Little Miss Sunshine, who was nominated for best supporting actress, was great in this movie. I rate this movie a thumbs up. I won't say to go see it or not, but I really enjoyed this one. If you choose to go see it, you may very well share the same thought as I do.

So, I saw 300 last night.
300 is a movie about the war between Sparta and the world...led by a persian who claims to be a God. 300 spartan warriors set out to the north to fight the army of amazingly high numbers. I don't want to say too much more because most of the movie takes place there. Now remember that this movie is not based on the story of Sparta, but is a grafic novel by Frank Miller...the creator of Sin City. This was definitely a graffic movie. I really liked this film and recommend it for sure. I give it 2 thumbs up.

Here is a comedy about 4 suburban friends who ride motorcycles. They all decide to go on a road trip across the country and just be free from everything. They run into a bit of trouble from a biker gang and all sorts of events unfold. This movie stars Tim Allen, John Travolta, Maritn Lawrence, William H. Macy and Ray Liota. This was a pretty good comedy. I was laughing throughout. Today, at my theater, it was selling out. I really enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to all. I give Wild Hogs a thumbs up.

Ok, Johnny Blaze and his father were stunt bike men. Johnny's dad is terminally ill and Johnny makes a deal with the devil to save him only for him to still die. Years later, the devil comes back to collect and make Johnny the new rider. Forced to accept, he sets out to stop a group of 4 from creating Hell on Earth.
This really was a lame movie. I rate it up there with Hulk. This movie was over hyped and then a total let down. I am going to rate this movie with a thumbs down.

Ok, for those of you who have seen the movie, Van Wilder, I strongly suggest you go see Van Wilder Deux: The Rise of Taj. Kal Penn goes to England to finish school as a student teacher. The group of outcast students that he gets put in with need a little help with their self esteem and Taj takes on the challenge. This movie is hillarious. Not as good as the first, but definitely worth seeing. I give Van Wilder Deux, a big thumbs up.

Now this, I must say, is a stupid movie. The thing is, its so stupid, it will keep you laughing the whole time.
It takes place in a mens correctional facility where Dax is seeking revenge on the son of the man who got him locked up all his life. With an unexpected outcome, things change in favor of the young blood.
I recommend seeing this one for the humor factor more than anything you've heard about this flick. I give it a thumbs up.

Now this movie was Outstanding! I really like penguins in the first place...Shut up Comet, Gigi and the rest of you.
Mumble is a young Imperial Penguin who cannot sing, but can dance like no other, who is forced to leave his colony. He comes accross regular penguins who like to dance as well and tries to earn his way back in to his group with their help.
This movie is filled with a lot of laughs, singing and hillariousness. I strongly recommend that you go see this movie. It was fun for all ages.
I give it thumbs up thumbs up

So I screened Borat tonight. This movie was freakin' hilarious!!! Granted, when it gets to the scene where he is in the tub, you don't see anything, but you will definitely want to cover your eyes for what happens next. We were all laughing histerically throughout the movie...except for that one part where we were all screaming in horror. If you get the chance, I recommend seeing Borat. I give it 2 thumbs up.

First on the block this time through, The Marine: John Cena is an ex Marine who goes an a trip with his wife. While at a gas station, Diamond theives hijack his car and kidnap his wife. The entire movie, He is trying to track them down and rescue his wife. I have to say, John Cena is not a terrible actor. The story was weak. The acting was bad. The fight scenes were alright though. Over all, I give the movie a thumbs down.
Second movie: Man of the Year: Robin Williams is a comedic talk show host (like John Stewart) who is told that he should run for president. This movie is a lot like Empire... where it is interesting at the beginning and the end and everything in the middle seems slow and almost pointless. Robin Williams is hilarious at multiple points in the movie. I actually thought that some of the stand up he did was actually himself. Kind of predictable story though. I liked it ven though it slows down throughout. I give this movie a thumbs up.
Third movie: Prestige: Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale are rival magicians who are Hell-bent on learning each other's tricks and doing them better. This was a very long winded movie. You get the Pulp Fiction effect where they show you a bit of the end of the movie right at the beginning. Now from this point on, up until about the last 20-30 minutes, you are bored out of you skull. The movie has already told you what happens. Who cares about the rest. I even got up in the middle and went outside for a smoke break. The acting was pretty good and the cast was good, but the trailer makes this movie look ever so much better than it really is. I have to give this movie a thumbs down.

1st: School for Scoundrels: Basically this was a sequel to Anger Management. Not very good really. Jon Heder is a little pansy that goes to a school taught by Billy Bob Thorton. He learns too quickly and Billy Bob tries to shut him down by stealing his girl. Not really much more to it. They basically beat the crap out of each other for the rest of the movie. I gave it a thumbs down.
2nd:Open Season: Kids movie. Not very funny until the very end where it gets mildly funny. A bear that lives in a garage is forced to go live in the wild with a troublesome deer that got him put there in the first place. The whole movie, he is trying to find his way back home. I gave this movie a thumbs down.
3rd: Emp. o/t Month: This movie was actually funny. Dane Cook is a total slacker and Dax Shepard is the egotistical hot shot. They work at a Super Mart where Jessica Simpson transfers to, with the rumor that she only sleeps with the emp. o/t month. Dax is trying to set a record of being EOM for the 18th time in a row. Dane decides to step up and try to beat him. The movie, IMO, was great. Funny, but not too. I liked it. I give it a thumbs up.

Opening this Friday, in theaters everywhere, is Jackass 2. Now for those of you who saw the first Jackass movie, base your decision to see this one from that. I can't really tell you much about this film, as it is a bunch of guys doing really stupid shit the entire 1 1/2 hours. I will tell you this, if your gross out level is low, it would probably be best if you don't see this movie. There were a few parts that Beta and I were gagging...almost puking. Funny ass movie though. I give it a thumbs up.

Ok, first, Fearless: Good kung fu movie. I liked the action to it, but it lacked the ability to keep me interested. In this movie, Jet Li is a martial artist who learned the way of his family's wushu (karate) to become feared and to be the best. Half way through the movie, he has a revelation and changes his outlook on it all. He fights for honor from then on. The biggest downside to this film is that there are only 2 sceens, very brief, where they speak English. The movie is subtitled. Not a good thing if you are a slow reader, like myself.
Second movie is School For Scoundrels: How many of you saw Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson butt heads in Anger Management? I got news for you. Anger Management 2 right here. Jon Heder plays a nervous little wuss that can't catch a break. Billy Bob Thorton plays the "teacher" of a secret class that helps dumbasses like him build confidence and take what they want. When Jon Heder becomes the star pupil, Billy Bob steals the woman of his dreams. All Hell breaks loose and suddenly you realize that you have already seen Anger Management.
Neither movie was really all that great. I would recommend you skip these 2 and go watch Jackass 2.

So I saw Gridiron gang the other day. It was ok. Not too impressed. This is a movie about a bunch of kids in a detention center that starts a football team. Hmm. This sounds familiar. Kinda like a young people version of the Longest Yard. I liked the football portion of the movie, but there just wasn't enough of it. This movie was definitely not one of my better choices, but maybe thats because Jenna Jameson wsan't in it. Overall, though, I would give this movie a thumbs up still. Could have been better, but sure could have been worse.

So, this week, I caught both Protector and Covenant. First off, Covenant.
This is a movie about a but of private school kids who have powers (Warlocks, basically). The more they use their powers, the more it drains their bodies. A member of the 5th house, thought to be completely destroied, comes back to gain their power and seek revenge for his family (He's the bad guy). The movie starts out pretty good, but turns sour about half way through. The story becomes real weak and way too predictable. The soundtrack was awesome though. I have mixed feeling about this movie. I guess this one you will have to see to make your own decision.
Now for the Protector.
This is a movie about a man who learns Muay-Thai to protect the elephants that his people have raised to service the kings in wars. When his father is killed and their elephants stolen, he travels to Austrailia to get them back. Sound weak? It kinda was. There is a lot of subtitles throughout this film. Not all bad though. The fight scenes were amazing. Very Jackie Chan-ish, who btw, has a cameo. Bones are breaking left and right throughout this film. For anyone who has followed the Tekken videodames, you will definitely see the characters toward the end. I liked this movie, but only so much. The quality of the picture was weak. The acting not much better, but the action sceens help to balance it out.
So for the ratings on these 2 movies, I will give Protector a thumbs up for action but a thumbs down for overall good movie.
For Covenant, Thumbs up for soundtrack and idea, but thumbs down for acting.

This was definitely a good movie. I would reccommend this one to just about anyone. This is a true story about a 30 y/o bar tender who went down to an open try-outs for the Philladelphia Eagles and managed to make the team. This movie had a good story and was very entertaining. Not to mention it is a football movie. Everyone should go see it. Unless you are a Giants fan, you should like this movie...in my opinion. So, I give this movie thumbs up thumbs up
