The kind of nice family that I come from. My brother came back from seeing Watchmen. I asked him how it was and his reply was "YOU HAVE TO GO SEE IT!". I asked him about 30 times if it was really that good. His only reply was "YOU HAVE TO GO SEE IT!". Finally after about 15 minutes of this he finally admitted that the only reason that he wanted me to go see is was so that he wouldn't feel so bad about wasting his money on it. He said it was 3 hours of watching "The BLUE SCHLONG" swaying around the movie screen. He said that at least the story line sucked. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this and what your thoughts are of it.
Has anyone seen the latest starship troopers film yet? Read nothing but bad things about it but I didnt mind the first one and figured they were supposed to be tongue in cheek anway. Thought I might take a look at it.
Well, first off if you love Steve Carrell(sp) then you'll love this movie.
Now, Ali and I pretty much laughed this entire movie. Even the parts that were in the movie's trailer that we saw all the time, we still laughed our asses off when we saw them in the movie. I think the Rock has found his niche in comedy films(not those crappy Disney ones he started doing either), because he was pretty funny in this film too. But I love the randomness of this film at times of how it kind of parodies Spy/Secret Agent/even James Bond films but it tries to be serious about it and funny at the same time lol. But I'll eventually buy this movie, it's that funny. Even if you don't like Steve Carrell(sp) you should still give this movie a chance, it's great for laughs.
Has anyone seen any of these horror flicks? there are three of them all together. Read some good reviews on the box set just the name Sleepaway camp sounds a bit naff
The Dark Knight is now the third biggest film of all time
3)-The Dark Knight-$441.5 million 2)-Star Wars-$461 million 1)-Titanic-$600.8 million
and the film is only 4 weeks old!!!
but take into account the rising ticket prices,as i said when i went to see the film, the bastard thing set me back 8 quid!!!...but thats to be expected really,as it was 31 years ago for star wars...it was prolly free to get in the cinema then,.LOL
Titanic came out about 1997 i think, star wars 1977..and now The Dark Knight 2007 2008...so in ten years time we will have another BIG film, but only because of inflation in the ticket prices...i am guessing Keanu reeves will be desperate by then and Bill and Teds Buzzing Trip will be THE film,LOL
quoted below, with bolded that interests me(i dont care what interests you,LOL)
QUOTE
"The Dark Knight" took in $26 million to finish as the No. 1 movie for the fourth straight weekend, beating the stoner comedy "Pineapple Express," which opened in second place with $22.4 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.
The weekend haul lifted the Warner Bros. Batman sequel to No. 3 on the all-time domestic box-office charts with $441.5 million, behind only "Titanic" ($600.8 million) and the original "Star Wars" ($461 million).
The last movie to remain No. 1 for four consecutive weekends was "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" in late 2003 and 2004, according to box-office tracker Media By Numbers. That movie did it during a much slower time of year, with nowhere near the competition "The Dark Knight" has faced during Hollywood's busy summer season.
"It's almost unheard of. Summer doesn't usually afford films that much of a wide-open playing field," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of Media By Numbers.
"The Dark Knight" should surpass "Star Wars" to become No. 2 on the revenue chart by this coming weekend.
However, the numbers reflect today's higher admission prices, and "The Dark Knight" will not approach "Star Wars" or "Titanic" in terms of actual number of tickets sold. Taking inflation into account, "The Dark Knight" would need to pull in about $900 million to match the number of tickets sold for "Titanic" and about $1.2 billion to equal "Star Wars."
Even so, "The Dark Knight" has far outdone even its studio's expectations. Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Bros., said he would have been happy if the movie simply exceeded the $205 million domestic total of its predecessor, "Batman Begins."
It should top out at $510 million to $520 million, Fellman said.
"It has taken on a life of its own, and in doing so got so much positive press and word of mouth that older audiences who normally don't rush out to see movies or maybe only see two, three movies a year are coming out in large numbers," Fellman said. "It's a question of `We've been reading about this for three, four weeks now. Let's go see what it's all about.'"
staying on the topic of films, which is handy as this is in the movie section
when i did go to see The Dark Knight(can't i just call it Batman 2?)..i saw the trailer for the new Ben Stiller comedy...which for a change looks damn funny,he directs it as well, and it stars also Robert Downey JR and Jack Black...and one of my favourite UK comedians(from Manchester no less)..Steve Coogan, who has a small role its called Tropic Thunder
give it a watch of the trailer and tell me what you think
opens August 13th in U.S opens er...September 19th here in the UK
This one give an insight early on to the young life of Hell boy cutesy stuff. Only to tie it in latter on as part of the main story, Good over all story line, a little to lovey for my taste, but the graphics where well played out, the feeling of involvement in the audience seems a bit drummed down. They seem to focus on the love story to much, and it took away from the action. A few well timed jokes, and not really enough background on the bad guys for the development in the story. A good flick all in all. If you’re a Hellboy fan, or big on fantastic creatures/elves see it in the theater, otherwise wait till DVD.
WOW, I don’t know where to begin, and I sure don't want to spoil this one. I want to say so much here, but all I need to say is incredible.
So may tie in's, and the message at the end has me wondering what is next , and stuck in a waiting game, that I may not be able to outlive.
Some of the things in this are so intense, it is must see in the theaters, thanks be to all that worked on it, and to Stan lee for making the hulk even if the rest of the hulk stuff was crap, and it never got to be anything this would make up for it. The world deserves it. WOW.
IF you can see it for what is behind the lines time is a factor on this one go to it now.
I wish I could say thanks personally to those involved for this movie, and that is not something I often say, after working for years in a video store watching tons of different movies, they all seem like recycled crap to me. This is the incredible hulk as it's tiles says.
Hopefully I my self won't continue to at act like I did in the past, like when I use to watch the cartoon on Saturday mornings. I don't need to be that reckless at my age. Not that that has always stoped me.
Perhaps seeing the hulk at such an early age, has had some profound impacts on me but, at leat I got the positive messages too, makeing me much faster to calm than the hulk is.
Sorry! I am rambling.
Just go see this one. Don't wait do it now before you miss the chance. I would regret it for you , and me if you missed this before it is gone.
It was probably the worst comedy I have seen in a long long time. Do not see it was that bad. It did have its funny parts. I should of saw Get Smart. Eagle eye looks good.
I am a good fan of crap movies, and this one has to be one of the gayest I have ever seen, pun intended. This was badly written, in very poor quality, and that combined with great execution of the joke made it a very funny movie. Not a constant on the floor laughing but definitely worth the rental price if you hanging at home drinking.
I give it 3 out of 4 beers. or in referance to the movie itself 3/4 an errection.
If you had a choice to be a backup in a star wars movie which
one would you be in and what charecter would you be ?
I would say Revenge of the Sith because I would like to be on the
Republic Soldier because they have cool battle armor and fancy
more weapons . I do not know about Darth Vader being my boss
because when confronting him all he would want to do is talk about
Pademe which would get boring but you would have to listen to
him because he has jedi powers and most likely will choke you
to death if you did not listen to Him . I think my uniform might pick
up chicks too !
Last on TV there was a movie G4 that actually kept my attention to that channel. (that channel sucks compared to TechTV). It is a documentary about a guy who beats the high score of Donkey Kong that was over 20years old. What makes it a movie is the person he beats. The man he beats has several high scores in many classic arcade games. This arcade legend (Billy Mithcell)acts like a pompus Caesar and the movie focuses on his reactions to this guys challenge.
The movie came out last year, so it was a surprise to see it on G4. They did an epilogue after the show with Sessler and Webb, but with G4, they can't make anything have value without bringing it down to a 12 year level who had half a bottle of Corn Syrup.
Rent it and you'll see just how dorkey the earlly 80's really was,(except when P Cates walks out of the pool) and the dorks who haven't left.
I figured since I went and watched it in the movie theater I could post up my review for it. Well, Ali, Sara, and I went and watched this. My first thoughts before I saw the movie was, I hope the Wachowsky(sp) Bros don't ruin this movie for me because growing up I loved the Speed Racer anime. The beginning was interesting, showing you Speed as a young boy and how he looked up to his brother Rex, basically the backstory from the cartoon.
Then it got to the racing part of the movie... I was upset mainly because from what I remember of the cartoon it was all the cross country death races. The racing in the movie was circuit racing like Nascar crap. Actually it was like Speed Racer mixed with Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift and a crap load of PCP. The first hour or so had none of the gadgets that I thought were cool as a kid. They didn't bring them in to play until he did a cross country race near the end of the movie and that race wasn't even that long.
The story line of "We won't race for a company, you're the devil." was way overplayed in this film as well. John Goodman, bless his heart, did a good job as Pop but his dialog was pretty pathetic too.
Don't read this if you haven't seen the film!Click for read!
One part that pissed me off is that they tried to do away with the 'Racer X is really Rex Racer' story plot. Speed asked Racer X to take off his mask and when he did it was totally a different actor than Rex's. He said that he was sorry for what happened to his brother, but he wasn't him. Then at the very end of the film they showed like 15 seconds of Rex getting plastic surgery to change his facial identity. WTF? and that anyone who saw his face would be enemies of his enemies. Lame.

Other parts of this film reminded me of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the sense that it was too bright, too kiddy, and the CGI was too fake. The kid and the monkey were way too annoying. There was one part where 3 ninjas trying to assassinate Speed, Racer X, and their team racer Taejo. Well, Racer X was doing his kung fu thing, I don't what Taejo was doing, and Speed's brother and the monkey were beating up the ninja that was sent for Speed... it was pathetic. Then in came Pops, and it zoomed in on his College Wrestling Championship ring and he choke slammed the ninja on a room service cart and kicked it and the ninja flew out the window. Mom Racer(Susan Sarandan) said, "Was that a ninja?" and Pops said, "It's crazy what passes for a ninja these days, that was more like a nonja." then they all busted up laughing. I was getting even more pissed at the film.
All in all I'd give it a 1.5 VROOM!s out 5. Mainly because of John Goodman being in it and I loved him in the Big Lebowski.
30 days of night. Has anyone heard anything about this good or bad? I have only seen one trailer for this and was tempted to go see it when it opens. The wife wont come and see it she says these types of film are silly (I know it's cause she's scared really), so if I have to be the sad old bloke who goes to the pictures by himself, then I wanted to make sure it was worth my while.
Here is about the 1st 5mins fo the new Alien V Predator: Requiem film. i thought the last AVP film wasnt bad, considering it could have been dire awful Mid Jan is the release date, so probably mid Feb for UK, just in time for Valentines!

The news that Karen Allen would be back as Marion Ravenwood is accurate and truth be told, a few online sites had been sitting on this information for close to a month, no real shocker.
Shia Lebeouf is a teenage motorcycle riding greaser, true.
Shia LeBeouf is the son of Marion Ravenwood and Indiana Jones, true.
Indy doesn’t find out about being a daddy until after he and Shia have been teamed up for a while and during a pivotal scene, true.
Movie takes place in the 50’s, true.
We will see Area 51 and Russian Agents, true.
South American Pyramids/Temples, true.
Crystal Skulls, true (13 skulls to be exact)
The current script is a hybrid of scripts including Frank Darabont’s version, true.
The title of the film is Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods, maybe, it sure is the working title but we have been told the real title may involve something about the 13 crystal skulls.
One major question remains, who’s the villain? Let’s take a look at the villains from the past Indiana Jones films before we blow our load. Spoilers Ahead!
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark we had Dr. Rene Belloq and those pesky Nazis.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom we had Mola Ram and his followers.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade we had Walter Donovan and, again, Nazis.
So who will be a villain in Indy IV? Well kiddies, while most people have been assuming that Cate Blanchett will be Indy’s love interest since the announcement of her addition to the cast, several of our sources have revealed that she will actually be the villain in cahoots with the Ruskies.
Can these details change? We have been told that all major story beats have been locked and only minor changes can be made at this time.
I would stay close to the web during the next upcoming week as I have a feeling that more of Indy’s secrets will be revealed.
No time for love for Dr. Jones this time around! Well at least not with Cate Blanchett.'
><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
this part is just one of the above facts that concerns me
'So who will be a villain in Indy IV? Well kiddies, while most people have been assuming that Cate Blanchett will be Indy’s love interest since the announcement of her addition to the cast, several of our sources have revealed that she will actually be the villain in cahoots with the Ruskies.'
er...wasnt this practically the story for indy 3,the love interest(oh,come on,there will be some flirting between them)..being in cahoots with the nazis
another is this
Shia LeBeouf is the son of Marion Ravenwood and Indiana Jones, true.
well it worked well for superman returns..didnt it?....it did didnt it?...oh...it didnt !!
well,as i said....if true,i am dreading the outcome...oh,god,i just realised that sean connery will be there as well.....the whole family...shit,now its mummy returns!!
i watch it every year, even though its about 2am when it starts
i would really like Peter O' Toole to win the best actor,as i like him and he has missed out on one 8 times...but i think that Forest Whitaker will get it
i am glad that there is a 30 second time limit on the speeches,i wish that was the same with the BAFTAS...some of the speeches were embarrasing to watch
so,reckon Mickey Rooney will be in the cheap seats as usual?.LOL
i wish they would get Steve Martin or Billy Crystal to host it,i think they are the best at it....this year i think its Ellen DeGeneres ...meh

So here is a topic where I would like you all to put down your top 5 movie of the year. Once You all have given your thoughts, I will go through and compile a list of the overall top 10 movies of 2006. Therefore repeated movies are more than ok.
My list:
Clerks 2
Pirates o/t Caribbean 2
V for Vendetta
Happy Feet
Superman Returns
Shut up. I liked the movie. I am a big Superman fan.
Okay I know christmas is a big headache these days so I am going
to ask you a question that you can answer what you grew up on .
What christmas film put you in the mood for Christmas either be old
or new ?
For me as a kid it was Frosty the Snowman n Rudolph the Red nose n
the grinch
a teen it was A Christmas story
now its a christmas story and Christmas Vacation you gotta luv Clark .
if I said one of your movies go ahead and use it again .
we all know that video game movies are usually shit...mario the exception...LOL,im joking
but what video games would you like to be made into a movie,as long as they do a good job of it
previous pieces of shite include
doom
spyhunter(i hate you 'the rock')
mario
resident evil(watchable just for slow mo on milla jovavichs thatched roof at the end,LOL)
final fantasy the spirts within(although final fantasy advent children was good)
both tomb raider films
halo3 is coming soon, which can only be good if they get an unknown into the role and not show his face
i always thought of zelda and maybe haley joel osmont could play link, but he must be going on 50 now....dakota fanning could play princess zelda
so,if they could do the game justice, and not fuck it up in any way, which games would you like to see as movies
maybe something from the classic 70s....like halloween, chainsaw massacre, the omen, the exorcist
or the 80s with the nightmares on elm st,friday the 13th,...or one of cher's films
the 90s with the teenage thing going as bit too far, like scream,i know what you did last summer, jeepers creepers
or the naughties with saw,the new chainsaw massacre,or some japanese horrors or their remakes
my favourite horror film is the original 'the haunting' from the 60s..really creepy
others that definetly make the list for me are the changeling with george c scott....the medium getting in touch with jacob, and the banging on the bath was cool
the omen, not seen the remake yet,but i absolutly love the original trilogy(not omen 4!!)
japanese horrors are my kind of thing as well, from the ring and the grudge to dark water...but the eye is one of my favourites
ok,now look...my favourite film of all time,is raiders of the lost ark,and i love temple of doom and last crusade proberbly just as much...harrison ford is my favourite actor(along with clint eastwood),spielberg is my favourite director, john williams best music ever...and lucas...well...star wars !!!!
so,the film has been announced that it will be 2008 when it finally comes out...thats right, nearly 20 years since last crusade(yes sand dog,its been that long).....but is it really a good thing to bring back indy...he'll be old now,no disguising that, could it put a damper on the original 80s trilogy if it doesnt come out too great(no doubt spoiled because it has too many special effects)
i want a new indy film,but....what if its shit???...i dont think i could deal with that,i heard one of the supposed titles is indiana jones and the ravishes of time(maybe an explanation on harrisons age)...i also heard that at one point they were gonna look for noahs ark,LOL
but if indy is older, that means that it may not feature nazis hellbent on getting some religious artifact!!....and you gotta have nazis
anyway, tell me what you think, and maybe put my mind at rest and tell me that the film is gonna rock,i want this film to rock more than anything...but i am guessing if it is 2008,then they will proberbly go for summer 2008...so its already up against spiderman 3 and the dark knight(batman...er..begins 2)
Last weekend, Grudge 2 opened in theaters. I refused to screen it, knowing that the movie was going to suck. Well, sadly, to me, I have pretty much watched the whole movie now. This movie draws out all the little teeny boppers who usually try to sneak in to the R rated movies. Opening night, Friday the 13th, I had to spend about 1 hour between 2 showings in the auditorium, babysitting the little turds so that the adults could watch the movie in peace and quiet. Several imps on their phones. Others talking aloud. I even had to shout out over the movie a few times to knock it off or leave the building.
Well, tonight was a little different. We had to keep checking on the movie every 5 minutes to make sure they were staying quiet. After the first complaint, I went in to the auditorium and told everyone that if it didn't stop, we would stop the movie and everyone would have to leave.
Slightly off topic...The box office girl suggested earlier, we should have an olympic event with who can kick out the most people over a period of time. I said it wouldn't be fair with as often as I go in and kick people out.
Now about 25-30 minutes after the first complaint, a second person comes out with the same problem. I go into the auditorium with the 1st assistant manager going to the projector. As soon as he got there, I stepped into view in the auditorium and loudy, over the radio, told him to stop the movie and turn on the lights. I told everyone that with the second complaint, they all get to leave now. There were several older people who got up first and came down to me a bit pissed, but I told them that we would gladly take care of them for the inconvenience that all the little fuckwads caused...not in so many words though. Once the auditorium was cleared out, I had the manager start up the projector motor so that the rest of the movie would play through for the next show. The General Manager came down the hall to where I was talking to all the little pissants and told them that in order to get a refund, he had to talk to all of their parents. Overall, there were only about 6 people that we gladly gave passes to and took care of them. 4 of them even came back and watched the movie again. They were very cool about it and I was so sorry that all the ass monkies ruined it for them. We hooked them up with free drinks and popcorn for the trouble they went through.
So as for the olympic event, I am at 42 in 1 hour and the rest of the staff is at 0. I think we can call it good and I win by default for clearing an entire auditorium at once. A new personal best. Before tonight, the most I ever kicked out at once was 20.
So I recommend, if you go to see the Grudge 2, go during a weekday when all the little jackasses are still in school so that you may be able to enjoy the stupid movie in peace. Yeah, it wasn't a very scary movie. I never jumped or even laughed at it once.
I will post some trivia before the afternoon games come on. You will have until halftime in those games to submit your answers. Remember, you are playing for $100,000 here. Good luck to all.
Seeing that the wicker man is the latest in a long line of remakes for no apparent reason, I was wondering what films you would like to see remade and why?
"Maybe every other American movie shouldn't be based on a comic book. Other countries will think Americans live in an infantile fantasy land where reality is whatever we say it is and every problem can be solved with violence."
