E74 Anyone?

My new(er) Elite is now one year and one month old. Know what that means? Yep, it's time for a new one!

I got a big ol' E74 on my screen and a single red light. Not covered under the extended warranty.

Any suggestions? Should I try to fix? Or should I try and force the RROD instead?
If I should try and fix, are there any good tutorials out there?

Published figures for the 360 in February, as published by the folks at gamerscoreblog.com

My summary:
The 360 consoles have been hard to find on shelves, but are still outselling PS3 and Wii. Wii is catching up to the 360 rapidly.
If anyone is geting grief from PS3 owners, you can point out that even the Wii is crushing them in sales by about 2:1. They can't even compete with the friggen Wii fer cryin out loud!

Oh, and there are NO PLANS to add Blu-Ray to the 360. MS says the 360 is a game platform only, and these numbers can only re-enforce that statement.



The numbers:
For February’s NPD reporting period, Xbox 360 remained in a supply constrained situation. The situation is improving and we are confident consumers will soon be able to find the Xbox 360 SKU they seek, in time for the launch of “Grand Theft Auto IV”, which we expect to be one of the biggest titles of the year with huge impact on the Xbox 360 platform. Consoles:

$332 million was spent on the Xbox 360 platform this month, capturing 39 percent of the generation’s ecosystem, $235 million was spent on the PS3 and $283 million was spent on the Wii. (February NPD data)
The Xbox 360 platform now has a U.S. installed base of 9.6 million; the PS3 has 3.8 million, the Wii has 8.1 million. (February NPD data)

p.s. In case you were wondering, Microsoft is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Disc Association regarding integrating Blu-ray in to the Xbox 360 experience. Games are what are driving consumers to purchase game consoles and we remain focused on providing the largest and best library of blockbuster games available.

I heard that Pirates! was an awesome game, don't know much about the other two.

1200 points still seems awfully steep, should be able to find them used for much less if you still have your Xbox 180.
