well,it had to happen..i have pretty much been on the 360 for like 24 hrs a day for the last 3 months(okay minus 5 hrs for sleep)
last night while playing Fable 2 it froze, with it being a little over 5am i thought that was a good sign to go to bed
this morning it froze again when i started up the game, totally knew what was coming as i rebooted up the 360..and RRoD!!
for what its worth, this is my first RRoD,LOL
August 2006 the disc tray fucked up on me and it had to go back
April 2008 i got the E74 error(that i had to blag the woman on the phone and tell her its RRoD)
i should be okay as my sister is bringing her(my spare one i bought in August 2006) 360 round so i will use that
i have 2 problems though
just last month i transferred all the licenses to this 360(which now i cant do for another 12 months)..so as i have just bought all the Fallout 3 DLC will i still be able to play it on my sisters 360 with my hard drive?(will i always have to be online when playing?,which i am anyway)
second,i bought my 360 december 15th 2005...so er yeah my 3 years is up...but...on one of the past times i sent my 360 back,i didnt get the same 360 back...this 360 that has just gone tits up has a manufactory date of 2007..hee,hee..so i am gonna play dumb tell them not sure when i bought it,but bring it to their attention that the manufactory date is 2007
Well, as most of you on COD W@W knows, I've been having 360 disc read errors for months. Well, I decided to send my 360 off for repair, and then went out and bought a used 360. I've heard nothing but horror stories about changing xboxs so I was online looking and found nothing that could help me so I decided to call xbox support before I did something irreversable. Well, I called customer support and talked to accounts and billing, which only pissed me off and caused me to hang up with the lady. I won't go into details, lets just say I was an absolute ass about it. Anywho I called back and talked to tech support this time, which it what I should of done in the first place. It's a long drawn out 2 step process which involves your PC, xbox.com/drm and you new or used 360 all at the same time. Well all of those steps are relatively painless, but heres where it starts to hurt. You have to go and download EVERYTHING again. It's all about the licenses, see apparently each game or downloadable content is tied to that SN of the 360. So you have to download again to attach the license with the new SN. Now some things downloaded like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5% download complete, but a few things have been full downloads. I don't know if it's because it wasn't done properly by MS the last time I had my 360 replaced or what. See last time my 360 broke, they did everything and I went weeks with no 360, however there was stuff I had on my hard-drive that would error out if I tried to play it. I'm thinking that's what is causing this some of the content to do full 100% download. I have 63 items I have to do this with, and I've been at it for over an hour. But if I'm successful it will be worth it. So far one problem is that my Elite had HDMI and this thing doesn't, which is now a problem because when I'm away from the house I use a 22" LCD computer monitor with HDMI, so now I guess I'm going to have to buy and adapter. The other problem is that it's white so that's it don't match. Thirdly when I get my Elite back, I will have to go through all of this again. Maybe I should of just sent it off and saved the $170 and headache. So has anybody else gone through this?
okay,so here it is,me and a friend are going to be playing The Elder Scrolls III:Morrowind(the one before Oblivion) for the Xbox 1,as xbox 360 doesnt allow friend chat while playing xbox 1 games(bastards!!),i wondered if the xbox 1 enabled voice chat with your friends while playing a single player game
therfor we could both play 'together',and she will be helping me out as she has played Morrowind about a million times
can it be done?,i really can't remember the xbox 1s features,i know it had voice chat with friends, but not sure if you could enable it during a game
Just wondered how this works. Playing a lot of W@W lately and everytime I see someone glitch on castle I do two things, I report them for cheating and set it to avoid this player. I know filing a complaint dont do jack, but it makes me feel a little better. But when I click on avoid this player and go back to the pre game lobby the guy has gone. My question is when I click avoid, does he get booted? or is it just a coincidence?
This is the problem I have. I have three live accounts at the moment, I use one and let the kids use the other one. The third was one I set up with one of those 48hr free scratch card things. Now the problem I have is because the third dead account has the same email address attatched to it every time I sign into the xbox forums it signs me in under that name. There must be a way to delete this account but I cant find it. Has anyone deleted an account before or know anyone that has?
I was thinking of getting an external hard drive for putting music and films on that would plug into the usb on the 360. Streaming from the PC is fine but it gets to be a bit of a pain in the bum having to have the puter on all the time. Can anyone recommend a good make and spec I should be looking out for. Thanks
okay,i have a 360 controller...'no shit' i hear you say
i have one of those plug in and play charger packs for it,however i find that i need to charge it quite often, and wondering whether the battery was dying on me,i was close to thinking of getting another
then one night,i forgot to plug my PSP in the wall socket so went back into the room with all the 360 stuff to plug it in,and in the dark there i noticed that the 360 controller was on...wait a minute,it can't be on,the 360 is off and turned off at the plug socket
then i saw that the controller isnt fully on.it kind of has a faint backlight,i took the battery out,and sure enough the faint light went out,i am guessing this is for the controller to act quicker maybe when you press the guide button to turn on the 360..but still it could explain why my controller keeps running out of power so quickly if it is pretty much on fpr 24/7
i now take out the battery when i turn off the 360
so,go ahead, make sure your 360 is off and then go stand in the dark and look at your controller, making sure to take out the battery when looking at the guide button background faint light
so,if anyone else was wondering the same thing, there i reckon is your answer
a friend sent me this email today.....not that i am bothered about getting more out of my 20gig(as i now have the 120gig)..not even sure why he sent it to me...but anyway,as usual its all greek to me..i have no use of it,but thought someone may

Add Capacity to a 20GB Xbox 360 Difficulty: Hard; Time: 90 minutes Microsoft expects you to pay close to $200 to upgrade your Xbox 360's hard drive from 20GB to 120GB. That's about $150 more than a 120GB SATA drive actually costs. But with this slightly tricky hack, you can save a bundle while boosting your game console's storage capacity to hold more music, video, and other media files.
You'll need a DOS installation on a writable flash thumb drive for this hack. (The utility doesn't work under Windows, and you'll also be disconnecting your PC's hard drive.) First, grab a spare USB thumb drive and copy the HP Drive Key Boot Utility to it. The utility is designed for HP flash drives, but it works on other types of flash drives, too. Also download and mount a DOS image file.
In Windows Vista, right-click the HP utility and run it as an administrator. Select the thumb drive, choose the FAT structure, click the Create a DOS start-up disk check box, and pick the DOS files when prompted. Then download the DOS Xbox utility, HDDHackr, and copy it to the root level of the thumb drive.
This hack is designed to work with a specific drive, the 120GB Western Digital Scorpio, model number WDGWD1200BEVS. You'll be replacing the drive's native firmware with Xbox-recognized firmware. You can track down the firmware online by doing a search for "hddss.bin 120 Xbox 360." Place the hddss.bin file in the root of your DOS thumb drive.
With your PC turned off, unplug any other SATA devices and then connect the new Scorpio drive to one of the SATA cables and to a power lead. Afterward, boot from your DOS thumb drive (specify a boot drive in your PC's BIOS, if necessary). At the DOS command line, type run hddhackr -f and press Enter. You'll be prompted to make a backup of the original drive firmware; do so.
Continue with the process to flash the firmware on the new hard drive. After a few seconds, you'll be prompted to restart the computer. Once you have done so, run the "hddhackr -f" command again, and it should report that the hard drive has been formatted for the Xbox 360.
Use Torx screwdrivers to remove the 20GB hard drive from your Xbox 360 and to remove the drive from its case. Swap the formatted Western Digital drive into the case, put it back together, and start the console. Follow the prompt under System, Memory to format the new drive; after formatting is complete, the drive will be ready for use.
Okay, to this day I still haven't figured out how to link my laptop with my 360 so that I can play my Media Player music on my 360... any help would be greatly appreciated.
I got a 120GB drive. I backed up my 20GB using an XPORT Docking Station. I migrated the information from my 20GB to my 120GB. Now I cannot play XBOX original games on my 360 anymore. It says that I have to re-download the games even though the disk is in the drive. I restored my 20GB drive using the XPORT since during migration the 20GB is deleted. When I reinstall the 20GB I can play XBOX originals again. Anyone come across this problem and have a fix? Fortunately it seems that all of my saved games made the transfer and I still have my original 20GB drive in it's pre-migration condition.
Has anybody else suffered the same problem? Playing Bad company using a Light machine gun and I pull the trigger and nothing happens, pull it 2 or 3 more times and it bursts into life. And I have also noticed sometimes when I try to run it doesnt always respond straight away. I thought it might be the gun but it does it on the assault rifles too. It's only just started to happen and only happens now and again. Could this be a wireless controller issue or is it just my arch enemy lag? I need to try out a few more games to see if it happens on any of them.
ok, as you may/maynot know I am running a wireless setup, router and modem downstairs, 360 and my pc upstairs. I have my router set with the port forwarding and enable the DMZ on my 360 IP address. Thing is, the IP address on my 360 keeps changing. some times its 192.168.1.100 another time will turn it on and it might be .103, so i have to go into my router and apply the port forwarding and DMZ to this different IP address (it aint a major to do, but something i would like to avoid)
is the router assigning IPs as wireless equipment is turned on? EG the 1st wireless machine will be assigned .101 the 2nd will get .102 etc. Is there anything i can do? we do have a Nintendo Wii downstairs and that is connected to the network wirelessly as well
As you know my 360 went tits up just over a week ago and in my panic i went out and bought a replacement. My previous 360 could only be connected via component connection and i have been perfectly happy. As you also know all the 360s (except Arcade version) now come with a HDMI output. I have bought the dongles and cables so my new 360 can have pride of place using the HDMI connection on my TV.
so I am playing RB6V2 thru HDMI, things is, it dont look as good. I dunno if it what i have become used to or what, but the HDMI looks too "gritty" almost too sharp. People have said that it would be very hard to tell the difference Component and HDMI (the diffeence only seen on massive TVs). I could quite easily and to my surprise it wasnt in HDMI favour. Component has always looked great, the colours are full and the detail has been amazing (my jaw dropped when i 1st hooked my 360 up in HD). I have now put it back to component, I suppose i should have tried a HD DVD but again, compont has always offered me an amazing picture. Has anyone else seen this dramatic difference with there new HDMI 360s?
With the 360's selling well, and the premium (120gb) being sold out everywhere I'm looking, I need an answer to the cheapie $280 arcade box.
I see it has hdmi, does it have the same audio video outputs as the others units?= vga out, and digital audio out?
I want to make sure it has fiber optic output (toslink) that you use for the sound.
I know Pengwenn has one and I can't find anywhere on line what the back of the arcade mahine looks like.
I plan on getting a 120 drive to throw on it. I'm peice mealing it togehter becasue I have some some gift cards at a couple of stores that I can use to get it all for under a $100.
Ok here's the deal, I've been trying for heavens knows how long to get the Mrs into gaming. Everytime I try she get's flustered, I get ill, and it would usually go down like this: "No your other left! That's your right! Do you even know the difference? Why are you looking at the ceiling? Well looking at the floor isn't good either" Does this sound familar to anyone. See I have a lot of friends (that would be you) and fun online. She has NO fun online. Shes a part of my life and I want to include her in some way. So the choices are to A: get her into gaming B: quit gaming or C: let her do her thing, let me do my thing. We've been doing C for over 12 years and I really want her to be a part of this. And just so you know B will NEVER happen. I see people like Boda & Guinness or JuSThE2oFUs203 & think now why can't we be like that. So I'm at the stage where I'm STILL trying to teach her the controls, and I know it all takes time & patience. What I'm looking for is tips to make it easy on her and me. Games that are really good and teaching that FPS stile of play. ANYTHING that has helped teach someone to play. For example we tried a little Mass Effect yesterday and after about 10 minutes she was done. Apparently the fingers aren't comprehending what the brain is telling it.
Last night playing CoD4, some of may recall me saying i had black dots appearing during the maps. well turned it on this morning same story (as in campaign as well), put in RB6 and that has green lines on it, put in FoW and i was watching it thru the Matrix. So i unplug everything give it a hoover thre best i could hook it it all up (you know what coming...) RRoD, but only on the bottom right and a complimentary E74 code. Doing internet searches it says it could be an AV cable problem, gave it a clean (cable and port) same shit, it also says it could be a GPu problem, that would make sense as its only gameplay that was effected, game menus and dashboard "was" ok. As you all know I have taken 2 weeks leave/vacation in the run up to RB6v2. I cant got without my 360, not this close to RB6V2 nor while i am off from work. so i gotta go and buy a new to send this one off.
Dunno if anyone else has noticed. when I go to Xbox.com and you can look at your messages, profile etc. when I used to look at my friendlist all my friends were displayed on the one page, now it shows me like the 1st 15odd people and the rest are spread across 6 other pages, WTF? I dont want have to look thru 6 pages to see where all my friends, i liked having it all in front of me on the one page, what benefit is this new layout? On a Friday/Sat night its not unusual to have 20+ people online, that means i now have to look thru 2pages to see where everyone is
So I finally took the plunge and bought an elite, I was after a larger hard drive and what with the recent price drop I went for it. Any way I set up the elite but had to use the old hard drive because I couldn't get the cable until the next day. All was good, then the next day I did the transfer and put the new hard drive on. Fired it up to play some cod4 and noticed a clicking noise which I finally tracked down to the headset, every 10 seconds or so there would be a clicking noise coming from it. I was using the old wireless controller with the old headset plugged in (because the new controller fealt too new, fag I know) When I changed over and used the elite controller the noise stopped. So has anyone experienced this before? What is it? If the old controller isn't compatable in some way with the elite how come it worked fine with the old hard drive? Did we really land on the moon? etc.........
ok, Dunno if you guys remember, but a while back i bought Juiced2, i was getting on ok with it, but it kept freezing, at one point it froze and i lost all my career progress (the 260 odd gamerpoints I earned stayed on my profile). i couldnt be bothered to go thru it all again so it went to the big ebay in the sky. anyways this time i have rented (just faniced having a play again). i know i would have to start my career all over but i didnt mind. so i start playimg again from scratch, i complete the 1st level and i get an "Acheivement Unlocked 5gp" i thought "thats odd, as i have already got that from when i played it prevously", so i looked at my profile to see how its worked that out, low and behold i have gone from having 9044 points to 8999!!!! but the plot thickens, when i look at my profile on a pc it still say 9044(i know Pc info take a while to update, but it should have by now). when i look at my achivement for Juiced2, there are a few that say "ERROR: Missing Achievement" these dont look like ones i got anyway so it shouldnt effect my over all gamerscore
Basically, how the hell did i get an achievement i already achieved back in Sept, but then i lost like 45?
I'm just about ready to chuck my 360 into the darkest corner of my closet and leave it there. And since I don't have access to my profile I couldn't play on it even if I wanted to. Here's what happened.
I tried to play some Arcade games that I downloaded eons ago but never played. When I got into the game it said I was in the trial version. So I redownloaded the game but no luck. Still trial version. So I deleted those games from my hard drive and redownloaded them again. No luck. So I decided to delete my profile and redownload that. Why? Because last week when I was having connection issues (trial games instead of full versions) I got a funky msg in one game that "this profile is no longer allowed to download arcade games". Eh? My problem now is that about halfway through the account recovery I get a msg that the "account creation tool is not currently available". Which means I can't recover my account. Which means I can't play anything on my 360. And if you go to the website all funtions are "up and running".
I've tried it twice and right now I don't even want to go near my 360 because I'm affraid of what I might do to it. But during the second attempt I was thinking about the problem. The games that I was trying to access (and there were more than one) I think I originally downloaded onto my original console which my brother is currently using. I know that those that have sent their consoles back for repair and have gotten a different system back have been having problems with the arcade games because of the system the game was originally register for when it was first downloaded. Because I'm currently using my second console (same hard drive though) it might not be unlocking the registration code for me. So I should probably call Microsoft but I probably need to have my profile recovered before than and I CAN'T DO THAT. So I'm really getting pissed off here.
I've had some problems with my Live connection over the last couple of days. I randomly get discounnected or I can't get connected at all. When I run a test on my 360 it always fails at MTU. What is that? What does it do? Where does the problem lie (with my 360 or internet connection)?
Last night I couldn't get connected to Live if I was on the dashboard. When I tried to play my arcade games they were all marked as trail versions and that I needed to download the full version. But I couldn't get connected to Live to do that. I put Call of Duty 4 in (while my dashboard said I wasn't connected to Live) but I was able to get into a multiplayer game. Once I went back to my dashboard I was disconnected from Live again.
Theses are some of the same problems I had over the xmas holiday when Live was acting all funky. I haven't had problems since then until now and things are acting up again. I got on this morning breifly and things were all fine. I'm playing on my Arcade console as my brother Kai has my original console. If this is something that might eventually lead to a RRoD I want to be prepared and see if I can't fix it or hold it off as long as possible. I'm not buying another console if I have to send this one back.
As most of you know, I recently got my 360 back from MS. Since then, I've been having problems with RainbowSix:Vegas, specifically the Black and Red expansion packs.
Whenever I try to join a game using the new maps, it says I need to dl them. I have to exit the game, go to marketplace, and click 'Download Again'. Then I can go back to the game and it works.
I've tried the 'Download Again' thing before I start a game, but it still does it.
I've tried deleting both packs and completely dl'ing again, but it doesn't work.
I've been having A LOT of problems staying connected to Xbox Live lately. My biggest compliant is that it was mostly happening while I was playing ranked matches in Catan. Not only do I not get any credit for playing the game (I'll take a lose if my victory points count) but everyone was sending me bad feedback for quiting early.
Dain Bramage and I have tried some various configurations out and it hasn't helped. My latest attempt to fix the problem is connecting my modem directly to my 360 and bypassing my router all together. Unfortunately this means my PC gets disconnected from my modem. Fortunately it seems that it might have fixed the problem. I was able to play a ranked match of Catan and a very long tournament of Texas Hold 'Em without getting dropped. I've only been playing free tournaments just in case I get dropped.
I'm going to test this theory out for a couple of days playing various games (disk and arcade) and see if I have any more problems. If not, it looks like I will need to get a new router (mine's about 4 or 5 years old). I'd hate to waste $40 on a router if it doesn't fix the problem. So if you see me getting off and on all the time I apologize. And if we're playing and I suddenly drop out it's not because of what you said.
I want to replace my wireless router to an "n" and usb router. The only 2 models I've found with usb are the linksys and apple airport extreme. Looking online the linksys reviews are crap and the apple seems to be solid except with the 360 connecting to it.
Ha anyone found or know if an apple router can run an 360 or an xbox?
